Tools Used

If you are just starting your build and wonder what you are going to need, then here is my list. I’ve found that you can spend as much money on tools as you do on the build, so it’s really up to you how sophisticated you want to get.

But remember, this isn’t an F1 – the technology is basic and that’s all the  tooling needs to cope with.

As the build progresses I will add any other tools I need to the list

  • Clamps (various)
  • Self grip pliers
  • Riveter
  • Engine hoist (1 ton)
  • Cobalt drill bits 3.2mm, 4mm, 6mm & 9mm
  • Square
  • Cleco pins 1/8 & pliers
  • Vernier calliper
  • Auto punch
  • Hex Keys
  • Torque Wrench
  • Trestles
  • Vice
  • Rivnut tool
  • Various socket sets
  • Various spanners
  • Bench Grinder
  • Tap & Die Set (incl 7/16th UNF for Seat belt mountings)
  • Barrel sander and emery paper
  • 1200 grade wet & dry, cutting paste and T-Cut (for nose cone repairs)
  • M18 x1.5 tap to clean the front wishbone ball joint threads
  • M14 x2 tap to clean the steering rack extension threads
  • Clutch alignment tool (although could have been done by hand/eye)
  • Dremel 4000 Rotary Tool Kit (4000-4/65)  – bought to cut the dash
  • Silverline Sander Polisher  polisher to buff up the aluminium
